Abstract:
Heracles is one of the greatest heroes in the ancient Greek mythology, enormously popular in the Greek world, and becomes one of the Olympus Gods after his death. According to the ancient literature and archaeological research, Heracles is a Greek god who contains elements of various civilizations. During the Hellenistic Age and the Roman Imperial Age, the Heracles worship was extended from Europe to North Africa, West Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, and even China. In the process of its transmission, the oriental elements were blended. Furthermore, not only rulers of Hellenistic kingdom, but also the kings of Parthian Empire, Kushan Empire and other Oriental kingdoms, vigorously esteemed worship of Heracles, even claimed that they were descendants of Heracles. The creation and transmission of the Heracles worship was closely related to the ruler cult, and was a mirror of its historical background.
